This policy explains what personal information the Slavit mobile applications collect, why they collect it, who it is shared with, and the choices available to you.

Who this policy covers
Slavit is a product of Didho Digital. This policy applies to the following applications published by Didho Digital:
| Application | Package name | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Slavit Practitioner | za.co.slavit.hr |
HR and payroll staff at an organization that licenses Slavit |
| Slavit Employee | za.co.slavit.employee |
Employees of an organization that licenses Slavit |
Your employer controls your data, not us. Slavit is human capital management software licensed to organizations. Your employer decides what information is held about you, how long it is kept and who inside the organization may see it. Slavit processes that information on the employer's behalf and under their instructions.
This means questions about your own records — correcting a detail, seeing what is held, asking for something to be removed — are answered fastest by your employer's HR or payroll team. Where the law gives you rights directly, we support your employer in meeting them.
Information the apps handle
The apps do not create personal information of their own. They are a window onto the records your employer already holds in its Slavit system. Depending on your role and what your employer has enabled, that can include:
- Identity and contact details — name, employee number, work email address, telephone number.
- Employment information — job title, position, department, reporting line, employment dates.
- Pay information — payslips, earnings, deductions, tax and statutory contributions, bank account details used for payment.
- Leave and absence records — balances, requests and approvals.
- Documents — employment contracts, letters and supporting documents your employer has attached to your record.
- Sign-in information — the credentials you use to authenticate, and the session token issued to keep you signed in.
Camera (Slavit Practitioner only)
The HR application can use your device camera to photograph or scan documents — for example an identity document during onboarding — so they can be attached to an employee record. The camera is used only while you are actively capturing a document. Images are sent to your employer's Slavit system and are not used for any other purpose. The employee application does not request camera access.
Files on your device (Slavit Employee only)
When you download a payslip or document, it is saved to your device so you can open or share it. Anything you then choose to share leaves the app and is handled by whichever application you send it to.
What the apps do not collect
We want to be specific about this, because it is unusual:
- No advertising. The apps contain no advertising and no advertising identifier is collected.
- No analytics or tracking. There is no third-party analytics, attribution or crash-reporting SDK in either app. Your activity is not profiled.
- No location. Neither app requests or collects device location.
- No contacts, photos library, microphone or call data.
- No data brokers. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
How information is used
Information is used only to make the service work:
- To authenticate you and keep you signed in securely.
- To show you the records you are entitled to see, and to let you submit requests such as leave.
- To let authorized HR and payroll staff carry out their duties, such as maintaining records and running payroll.
- To keep an audit record of actions taken, which your employer relies on for accountability.
- To keep the service secure, diagnose faults and prevent misuse.
We do not use your personal information to train machine-learning models.
Where information goes
The apps communicate with one destination only: the Slavit platform at
api.slavit.co.za. All traffic is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. There are no
other network destinations and no third-party services embedded in the apps.
Information is disclosed beyond your employer's own Slavit environment only where:
- Your employer instructs it — for example a payment file sent to their bank, or a statutory return submitted to a revenue or pension authority.
- A service provider processes it strictly on our behalf to operate the platform, such as hosting, under confidentiality obligations.
- The law requires it, or it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.
Where a licensing partner or reseller supports your employer, that partner may access your employer's environment to provide that support, under contract and only as your employer permits.
Storage and security
- Sign-in tokens are held in the operating system's protected credential storage on your device, not in ordinary app files.
- Traffic between the app and the platform is encrypted with HTTPS.
- Access inside the platform is limited by role and by the permission scopes your employer configures, so staff see only what their role allows.
- Each organization's data is kept separated from every other organization's data.
- Signing out clears the stored session from the device.
No system is perfectly secure, but we take the protection of employment and payroll data seriously and design for it deliberately.
How long information is kept
Retention is set by your employer, who must meet the employment, tax and record-keeping obligations of the country they operate in. Slavit retains information for as long as your employer's licence is in place, and deletes or returns it after that in accordance with the agreement with them. Data held locally on your device is removed when you sign out or uninstall the app.
Your accounts and your choices
Accounts are issued by your employer, not created by the public. If you no longer need access, or want your account closed, contact your employer's HR team — they can deactivate it. Because your employer is responsible for the underlying employment records, requests to access, correct or delete those records should also go to them; we will assist them in responding.
If you cannot reach your employer, or you believe your information is being handled improperly, write to us using the details below and we will help.
Children
These are workplace applications intended for employed adults. They are not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
International transfers
Slavit is offered in more than one country. Where information is hosted or accessed outside the country you work in, we put appropriate safeguards in place with your employer. Your employer can tell you where their environment is hosted.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, notify your employer so they can inform their people.
